Competition climbing has joined the Olympic Family and will be introduced as a new sport at the 2020 Tokyo Games. The Gold medal will be awarded to the athlete that demonstrates prowess in all three disciplines: lead climbing, bouldering and speed climbing.
Training and competing in all three disciplines is a significant challenge, as each discipline demands a unique skill set.
Alison Stewart-Patterson is the Canadian National Speed Climbing Champion and competed at the 2016 World Championships in all three disciplines. Sounds like someone has their eyes set on Tokyo!
