An Alert Bay resident with a kiwi accent, Hayley, once a teacher moved her class outdoors where she spends most of her time on the ocean sharing in the company of whales, bears and penguins. Hayley leads expeditions from Antarctica to the Arctic and throughout the Pacific Northwest. Introducing people to our natural wild environment is Hayley’s passion.

When not driving boats or guiding, her free time consists of solo journeys across South America by bicycle, sailing adventures in polar waters and volunteering as a whale research assistant. Hayley kayaked alone around Vancouver Island and Haida Gwaii and her first book South Solo: Kayaking to Save the Albatross is now in print.

Hayley attempted a world first solo kayak journey around the treacherously spectacular Sub-Antarctic Island of South Georgia to help save a magnificent bird. The expedition did not go as planned.
