LOCAL ADVENTURERS UNDER NEW PRESSURE
FEAT Canada returns to the North Shore with a lineup of nine local adventurers telling their tales in a new, dynamic time-limited format
Fascinating Expedition & Adventure Talks (FEAT), Canada has invited nine local speakers from a range of adventure disciplines to talk on February 12, 2012 about their recent accomplishments and expeditions. FEAT employs a fast-paced, pecha kucha-style presentation format where each speaker has only seven minutes (no more, no less) to tell their story. Far removed from a formal speaking platform, FEAT is social and fun and the audience is encouraged to interact with speakers.
FEAT’s line-up of nine speakers includes Anders Ourom, Hayley Shephard, JD Hare, Mandy-Rae Krack, Michael Schratter, Ryan Leech, Ryan Poque, Ryley Breiddal and Shawn Leclair. They’ll speak of adventurers and expeditions in the disciplines of climbing, kayaking, extreme skiing, free-diving, cycling, trials mountain biking, canoeing, hiking and adventure racing. FEAT Canada will be MC’d by Hall of Fame Mountain Biker Brett Tippie and will include a special FEAT demonstration only to be announced at the show.
“It’s fantastic to have so many great speakers from the lower mainland and Vancouver Island,” says Verret, who has enthusiastically jumped into the adventure of presenting FEAT Canada. “We truly are lucky to put together a line up rich in inspirational adventurers and motivators. The night, once again, will be magical and dynamic.”
International speaker and best-selling author Philip McKernan spoke at the inaugural FEAT Canada event, which was held in November last year. “I speak quite a lot and that event last night was top class. Genuinely hard to believe that this was its first year in Canada. Hats off to Sean Verret and his team for a really great job,” he said.
McKernan’s sentiments were echoed by the other speakers. Gary Robbins, West Coast Trail record holder commented: “The inaugural FEAT evening went off without a hitch and to an almost sold-out crowd. It was amazing to feel the energy of the speakers and audience“.
Nicki Rehn, an endurance runner, felt this same energy too. “FEAT was as spirited and adrenalin-filled as the adventures themselves. A great night shared with great people, both on the stage and in the audience,” she said.
Paul Gleeson, a man who has rowed across the Atlantic and stood on FEAT’s stage said afterward: “FEAT Canada was fantastically organized and the energy of the crowd was amazing. There was a great buzz in the theatre that night and the feedback was brilliant”. The second FEAT Canada will be no less captivating.
